A fire outbreak at the popular Elekahia community in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has redendered over 200 residents homeless while goods and property worth millions of naira were destroyed.
Sources from the area said the fire, which started at about 8:30am, was caused by a kerosene explosion.

Our reporter learnt that some of the affected residents had travelled for the yuletide, while others were out for work when the fire started.
An official of the Federal Fire Service, said men of the State Fire Service arrived early at the scene of the incident but were unable to access the place because of the nature of the houses.
