Schools to reopen January 18

The Ebonyi State Government says all public and private schools in the state are to resume on January 18 instead of January 4 as earlier directed.

However, higher institutions would open on January 4.

The Commissioner for Education in the state, Dr Onyebuchi Chima, said the extension in school resumption was in accordance with the directive of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

“Again, in order to ensure the return of students to full academic activities, especially as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) suspended its industrial strike on December 24, 2020, all Ebonyi State colleges and the university shall resume on Monday, January 4, 2021, on condition of strict observation of the NCDC protocols on COVID-19 by all staff and students,’’ Dr Chima announced Saturday.
