Scavenger docked for allegedly stealing 2 iron chairs

A 19-year-old scavenger, Danjuma Mohammed, on Monday, appeared before a Grade I Area Court in Karu, Abuja, for allegedly stealing two iron chairs.

The defendant, who resides in Nyanya, Abuja, is charged with three counts of joint act, criminal trespass and theft.

The prosecution counsel, Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that the defendant who conspired with one other now at large, went to the complainant’s welding shop and stole two iron chairs, worth N25,000.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 79, 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The judge, Inuwa Maiwada, admitted him to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Maiwada adjourned the case until April 12, for a hearing.
