A Karmo Grade I Area Court, Abuja, has remanded a 26-year-old scavenger, Ibrahim Adamu, who allegedly received stolen plates.
The judge, Mr Inuwa Maiwada, remanded Adamu, who pleaded guilty to a count charge of stealing.
The judge adjourned the case until Nov. 7 for review of the facts and sentencing.
The prosecutor, Mrs Ijeoma Ukagha, had told the court that the accused, a resident of Apo Village, Abuja, was arrested while attempting to cart away stolen iron plates on Aug. 2.
Ukagha said the accused bought 10 pieces of stolen iron plates from two security guards – Moses Ikechukwu and Haruna Usman – still at large.
The prosecutor said the accused attempted to take the plates from Ujat Company Ltd. located at Idu Industrial Area, Karmo.
She said Mr Momosani Sumaila of Deep Cover Security Guard Ltd., Abuja, reported the case at the Karmo Police Station.
According to Ukagha, the offence contravenes Section 317 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
