Scavenger bags 2 weeks community service for stealing

A magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has sentenced an 18-year-old scavenger, Rafiu Idris, to two weeks of community service for stealing.

Earlier, police prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that on December 1, at about 3pm on Olarewaju Street in Ado-Ekiti, the defendant stole two frying pots valued at N80,000, one cooking pot valued at N10,000 and one cooking stand valued at N15,000 belonging to one Victoria Osifo.

The prosecutor noted that the offence committed was punishable under Section 302, 181(d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Dolapo Babalogbon, sentenced him to community service for two weeks.
