The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) said there was no plan by government to review pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also called petrol.
The agency made the statement yesterday as the result of the sudden re-appearance of queues across the country amid rumours the government might be contemplating an increase in the pump of petrol.
The statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the agency, Mr Abdulkadir Saidu assured Nigerians that there was no need for apprehension or panic buying.
“We are confident that the NNPC being a major supplier of petroleum products into the system and the supplier of last resort can ensure uninterrupted supply of petroleum products into the market and the corporation has given assurances in this regard.
“PPPRA therefore urges fuel consumers across the country to be calm as there was no plan by government to review the pump price of PMS,” Saidu said.
He said that the agency would continue to monitor the supply situation and take every step required to ensure that there was no disruption whatsoever in the system.
