The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has dispenced 40,000 litres of diverted fuel to NNPC Mega filling station in Mando area of Kaduna for sale to motorists at official pump price.
This, Daily Trust gathered, is part of the measures being put in place to ensure availability of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in the state and country at large in view of the scarcity of the product presently being experienced.
Speaking with journalists at the filling station over the weekend in Kaduna, Head, Down Stream DPR Zonal Office, Kaduna, Yahaya Maishera said the fuel tanker meant for Gombe State, was intercepted at Funtua, Katsina by members of the IGP Special Task Force on Petroleum and Illegal Bunkering.
He said the tanker, whose weigh bill documents are suspected to be fake, showed the fuel was loaded in Lagos on 6th February, 2018 and was intercepted while heading to Gusau, Zamfara State on 9th February, 2018.
He said DPR has launched an investigation to get the transporter as well as the marketer, allegedly involved in the diversion of the product adding that, "The marketer will be suspended after investigation."
The official said the DPR had consficated the tanker while the product had been discharged at the NNPC station for sale to motorists at official pump price.
Head of PPMC, Kaduna Area office, Mahmoud Mohammed who supervised the exercise disclosed that in the past three to four days, an average of 39 to 40 trucks of petrol were dispenced.
