Savouring Toyota Belta, Rumion

Toyota Nigeria Limited (TNL) recently held its exclusive motor show in Lagos State which attracted distributors and customers from across the country. The event was a departure from the auto shows that are common in the automotive industry and that was why it was tagged “exclusive”. It was organised by TNL and only Toyota brands were on display to the admiration of visitors, customers, distributors and other partners.

Toyota is a household name in Nigeria, and TNL, with seven accredited dealers, has remained a leader in the industry, showing strength and capability in delivering the latest automobiles to thousands of customers and providing the bespoke after-sale services.

However, beyond the auto show where different models and brands of Toyota vehicles were displayed, the launch of two new products from the Toyota stable was the highlight of the week-long show held in Lekki.

Two Toyota products – Belta and Rumion – were the latest offerings unveiled during the show which added to the long list of Toyota models in the Nigerian market.

Toyota Belta: A new sedan from Toyota for Africa

The Belta is described as specifically designed for the African market, including Nigeria’s. It has a sporty and elegant exterior design which harmonises with the refined and spacious interior design which is convenient for various uses.

Toyota Belta also brings advanced and convenient features with ample luggage space. The agile 1.5L petrol engine delivers dynamic performance without compromising fuel efficiency.

The Belta is just one out of the many Toyota Sedans – especially the Corolla models that forever remain the toast of auto enthusiasts for their fuel efficiency, sporty appearance, with several safety features that give drivers peace of mind.

Part of the safety features is the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), which is a major feature that a motorist would look forward to in guaranteeing safety and comfortable driving experience.

It also has Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) which plays almost a similar role with the ABS by making sure that each wheel gets the right amount of braking force.

Driver and passenger airbags are other safety features of the Toyota Belta designed to make lives better for the drivers like the other models.

Rumion

Rumion: Toyota’s new compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) is a roomy seven-seater which has a formidable appearance matched with elegance.

Toyota Rumion is packaged with convenience and an abundance of space. The newcomer is secured with a responsive 1.5L petrol engine which brings joy to driving.

For those looking for a hatchback vehicle, smaller than a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), the Rumion provides a good option.

Why the exclusive auto show?

The Managing Director (MD) of TNL, Kunle Ade-Ojo, while providing an insight into why Toyota decided to hold the exclusive fair, said it was designed to have a one-on-one interaction with the customers.

He said, “This show was designed for all Toyota customers and all Nigerians interested in buying Toyota vehicles,” adding that the show had also solidified TNL’s affinity with the Toyota Brand in the last 53 years.

He further said, “We have been promoting the brand in the last 53 years and beyond and we want to take it to 100 years and beyond. We want to keep satisfying our customers and that is why this show is really dear to us.”

Ade-Ojo stated that the TNL would consider the same show in Abuja, where it had one of the strongest market shares.

Auto experts believe that the exclusive show in Nigeria by the auto firm is a platform to showcase the capabilities inherent in the industry despite the challenges of doing business in recent times. The show provided a platform for new vista of opportunities to come in the present Renewed Hope era where TNL has promised to be part of in terms of supporting the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative.
