The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has engaged medical robots to assist and diagnose pilgrims while performing the Hajj rites.
This is part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to make the Hajj pilgrimage digital-friendly using advanced technology.
During a press conference in Makkah on Thursday, the Health Ministry’s spokesperson, Dr. Mohammed al-Abdulaali, stated that the robots were equipped with 4G technology to enable quick and glitch-free diagnosis and medical checks for the pilgrims as well as communication with hospitals at the holy sites.
“We have provided 125 health centres, 17 emergency centres and 18 ambulance centres located in different parts of the holy sites across Mina, Muzdalifah and Arafat for immediate treatment of medical emergencies.
“Preventive measure is a very important part of our operation, hence, preventive medicines are administered to all Hajjis coming through airports, road boarders and sea areas,” he stated.
