The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation on Thursday urged leaders at all levels to step up efforts to confront the various challenges facing the country and restore hope to the ordinary Nigerian.

The foundation, in its 60th independence anniversary message issued by its Chief Executive Officer, Abubakar Gambo Umar, asked the nation’s policy makers and implementers to strive towards improving the quality of lives of citizens.

He stated: “At the diamond age of 60, the country has everything to celebrate.

“Despite all the challenges that come with nation building, we have a lot of achievements to showcase.

“To a large extent, we’ve used our diversity, size and resources to project a strong, united nation with promise of growth.

“It’s however imperative to note that the country is in its trying times, facing challenging issues of banditry, Boko Haram insurgency, kidnappings,  unemployment, economic downturn, environmental disasters, COVID- 19 and other health problems.”
