The Senate President, Bukola Saraki yesterday sworn in Baba Kaka Bashir Garbai as Senator for the Borno Central Senatorial District.
Garbai, a prince from the Borno Emirate Council was the canididate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who defeated the PDP candidate , Alhaji Kaka Umar Bolori in the bye-election that was conducted by INEC, last Saturday.
Our correspondent reports that the Senatorial District seat became vacant following the death of Ahmed Khalifa Zannah.
Zannah died on May 16th, this year, after winning his Senatorial election to return to the Upper Chamber.
During yesterday’s plenary, Garbai was administered oath of office by the Clerk to the Senate before he was offered a seat at the Red Chamber.
With his swearing in, the APC now has 60 Senators while the PDP has 49, making a total of 109 Senators.
