Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki is billed to address hundreds of broadcasters under the aegis of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) on Thursday as they converge on Ilorin, Kwara State.
A statement made available to Daily Trust in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday by FIBAN President, Desmond Nwachukwu disclosed Saraki will be speaking on “Leadership in Nigeria: Rising Above Sentiments and Propaganda.”
The FIBAN President noted that the conference centres on leadership which according to him, has been Nigeria’s “major hindrance to development, despite the huge human and material resources that we are endowed with.”
He said the gathering and discussion became imperative ahead of 2019 elections because “sentiments and Propaganda are tools constantly used by politicians and political parties in Nigeria at the detriment of unsuspecting Nigerians.”
Nwachukwu said, “As we approach the next general elections in Nigeria, the need to draw the attention of Nigerians who are craving for good leadership on daily basis cannot be overemphasised. It is in our move to have them properly educated that we decided to saddle Dr Bukola Saraki, who has been a major factor in these two leading political parties.
Other personalities expected at the event are, Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed who will be honoured at the event for his proficiency in Revenue Generation, the Chief Executive Officer of Biscom Communications, owners of Biscom Television, Prince Bisi Olatilo, the Managing Director, Radio Services, Dr Ambrose Somide, Comrade Garba Tsanni, the National President of Radio , Television, and Theatre Arts Workers Union(RATTAWU) who is expected to deliver the keynote address.
