The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Bayelsa State counterpart, Douye Diri, have assented to their states’ 2021 appropriation bills.
Lagos House of Assembly had on Tuesday, passed the slightly adjusted budget of N1.163 trillion for the 2021 fiscal year as against the N1.155 trillion earlier proposed by the governor.
The budget, christened “Budget of Rekindled Hope” has a recurrent expenditure of N460.6billion and N702.9billion capital expenditure.
The governor also expressed optimism that the budget would help expedite the state’s recovery process from the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 and the EndSARS protests.
He stated that a significant portion of the budget has been committed to human capital development, youth engagement, social intervention initiatives, and the completion of ongoing projects.
Similarly, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa, while signing the budget of N329.29 billion said the increase in the figure would address areas of deficit identified in the appropriation bill as well as assist in the infrastructure development of the state.
The governor, however, said that the increase in the 2021 budget was intended to tackle the completion of the three senatorial roads, in addition to rehabilitation of the internal roads within the Yenagoa metropolis.
