Receiving a delegation from Media Trust Limited, publishers of the Trust titles at his palace in Kano yesterday, Sanusi particularly acknowledged the role of Daily Trust in this regard as well as in championing the rights of the masses, and urged other newspapers to emulate it.
The emir also urged media organisations to promote peace and educate the citizens on the need to eschew violence, saying every Nigerian must play his role well for the sustenance of peace.
“We are happy with Daily Trust, especially for the role you have been playing in the promotion of peace. It is against this that I’m praying for peace and tranquility in the country,” he said.
Earlier in his address, the Editor -In-Chief of Media Trust Limited, Malam Mannir Dan Ali, had solicited for the support of the Emir on the forthcoming publication of a compendium on royal fathers in the country as part of the company’s efforts at promoting the traditional institution.
“We will continue to contribute our quota towards the development of Kano and the country as a whole. It is only Media Trust that has a press in Kano and this was done because of our interest in the state,” he said.
