Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi, former Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Atahiru Jega, an Economist, Prof. Pat Utomi have been slated to grace the first Lagos-Kano economic summit to be hosted in Epe, Lagos.
At a joint press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, state organisers said while Sanusi will be presenting a paper at the summit slated for February 28 and March 1, 2018, Jega will be attending as moderator of a panel discussion and Utomi as a lead discussants, among other personalities.
The former Minister of Planning, Dr Shamsuddeen Usman who is also the Chairman of the Kano State Economic summit and leader of the delegation said the partnership between the two states is geared towards providing residents of the two states with good governance and investments.
“The relationship between Kano and Lagos is not going to be based on one product. Principally, we shall be focusing on economics and investments. And at the end of the summit, we shall be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to define the nature of the relationship,” Usman said.
Also, the Lagos State Commissioner for Economic and Budget, Akinyemi Ashade said more than 800 delegates are expected at the summit on daily basis. He also said the summit which is being midwifed by the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode and his Kano State counterpart, Abdullahi Ganduje.
