Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has called on the people of the state not to take with levity the warning by the federal government that members of Boko Haram sect fleeing the recently liberated Sambisa Forest may seek to integrate themselves within the civilian population.
A statement by Malam Jibrin Ndache, the governor’s chief press secretary, quoted him as urging the people of the state to watch out for any suspected movement and report same to security agents. Niger is host to different forests linking the state to neighboring Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi and Sokoto states, which has hitherto served as abode to cattle rustlers and armed bandits. Governor Bello urged the people especially those close to the affected forests to be on red alert because of the fleeing sect members who might take advantage of the situation.
