The sacrificial ram of the Chief Imam of Mista Ali Central Mosque in Bassa LGA of Plateau State, Imam Abdulkadir, was stolen before the sacrificial rights of the Eid el-Kabir.

It was gathered that the ram was stolen on the eve of the Ed el-Kabir during a downpour.

Malam Haruna Yaqub, an imam in the community, who disclosed this during the Sallah sermon shortly after the two raka’at prayers, condemned the incident, describing it as insensitive.

He said, “The ram of our chief imam, which he purposely bought to sacrifice, was stolen in the night. We are really shocked by the incident. We were surprised to hear this story. This means that people are not God-fearing. It is scary that people have gone to the extent of stealing a ram meant for a religious activity.”

Yaqub, therefore, called on the people to be God-fearing and never to engage in either stealing or any act of criminality, emphasising that everyone would account for their actions in the hereafter.

He further said, “It is high time for people to repent and take the path of Allah. It is not too late. People should stop committing bad things and act according to Allah’s commandments.”
