The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 1500 personnel to control traffic during Eid-el Kabir celebration in Kwara and Kogi states.

Kwara State Command of FRSC said 800 personnel, including 542 special marshals, 25 patrol vehicles, and 5 power bikes would be deployed during the festival in the state.

The Public Education Officer, EI Haastrup, in a statement advised motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations, avoid excessive speeding, overloading and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Also, the state’s police command, in a statement by its spokesman, Ajayi Okasanmi, noted that formidable security plans have been emplaced across the state to ensure hitch-free Sallah and Durbar celebrations.

“All exit and entry points into Kwara State, both local and international, have been well policed by all relevant security agencies working in conjunction with the police,” he said.

In Kogi State, FRSC’s sector commandant, Stephen Dawulung, said the corps has deployed 700 personnel and 20 equipment to cover highways in the state to ensure free flow of traffic during Sallah celebration.

“We have deployed more than 700 FRSC regular, special marshals, and Road Safety Club members, 20 patrol vehicles, seven ambulances, and tow trucks to the roads for this special operation.

“The deployed personnel and equipment for the special operation within Kogi is to enhance hitch-free and safe travels during the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration,” he told journalists in Lokoja.
