SALAM: (A Poem for Peace Dedicated to the Victims of Violence in Nigeria)

Why should I maim my brother,

While we need to live together?

*

SPONSOR AD

Why should I kill my sister,

While I need her as booster?

*

Hausa, Yoruba should neither

Abuse, disgrace one another.

*

Nor disregard the efforts of other’

For we need to remain together.

*

Igbo, Tiv must share together

The sweat and joy of each other.

*

Language should not be barrier,

Let us use it to make clear.

*

We need to live closer

And tolerate one another.

*

Islam, Christianity aim at prayer

To repel Satan the destroyer.

*

He wants to reap from the weather

To achieve his selfish desire.

*

Let us put to shame the divider,

Lest we remain destroyed forever.

*

We should hasten and remember

The great call of the leader:

*

“What Allah has put together

Let no man put asunder.”

*

We’ve to understand one another

To remain in peace as brother’

*

You and I know my brother

Came from one seed together.

*

Adam and Eve lived together,

Happily, merrily in the yonder.

*

Peace is wealth for us together,

Let us work and dine together.
