Sacked college Provost refuses to vacate office

The Provost of Alvan Ikoku College of Education Owerri, Abubakar Sadiq, has refused to leave office despite last week’s directive by the National Commission for Colleges of Education to reverse its status and reinstate the Provost, Dr Blessing Ijioma.
Sadiq after receiving a letter to that effect from the Federal Ministry of Education, said he was still in charge, insisting that he cannot obey the directive.
“I was appointed by the former president Jonathan and I cannot be removed from office by a mere letter signed by a Permanent Secretary. I will only vacate the office after I am served a letter from President Muhammadu Buhari”, he said.
