The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Office in Nigeria has signed a “Grant Arrangement” with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to provide N1.8bn (USD 5 Million) for improved access to maternal and child healthcare in Borno State.
The four-year project, titled “Fostering Resilience and Development of Basic Medical Capacity for Women and Girls in Borno State, Nigeria” would run until 2022, said a statement from the KOICA office.
The project aims to increase access to comprehensive Maternal and Child healthcare, increase access to fistula care, improve capacity of Result based data management systems as well as to establish a framework of cooperation between the two agencies.
“KOICA hopes that the funds provided to UNFPA will expand the possibilities for women and girls in Borno state to lead healthy and productive lives and to provide a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is fulfilled,” it added.
