The Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, has said his Rivers counterpart, Governor Nyesom Wike, will not be disappointed that he was nominated as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate.
Addressing journalists after his screening at the PDP headquarters in Abuja, Okowa, who is also the Delta state Governor, said he believes Wike has love for the party and the country.

He said: “Governor Wike is a very strong party man he has great love for our party and I believe he is also a good democrat, he understands that when several brothers are in the race for a particular position it has to be one person at a point in time.”
” But I want to assure you that Governor Wike is a very good man and his interest for this country and the party is to be able to rise up to the challenge at the moment. He is strong and I do not feel that he is going to be disappointed.”
Okowa also also said Nigerians would soon start seeing actions from the Atiku campaign organisation, adding that they should be rest assured that “we are in the process of ensuring that Nigeria is returned back to its glorious days.”
Governors and party chieftains loyal to Wike were missing when Okowa was announced as running mate to Atiku.
Even Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who was at the party secretariat left before the commencement of the programme.
Among those present were Governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), Douye Diri (Bayelsa) and Godwin Obaseki (Edo).
