The Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has said it is committed to a safe environment for drivers across the country.
RTEAN’s President, Musa Mohammed, said this Thursday in Abuja at the official flag-off of the association’s automobile safety kits.
The kits included reflective vests, traffic cones, safety helmets, first aid supplies and warning triangles. Mohammed, represented by the association’s Deputy National President (Administration), Muhammed Abubakar Bishara, said the launching, which was in partnership with the West Africa Automobile Services Limited, among others, would encourage car owners and drivers to equip their vehicles with comprehensive safety kits.
The Director, Road Transport and Mass Transit Administration, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Musa Ibrahim, said, “The ministry would soon put a policy in place to ensure that both private and commercial drivers have these safety kits in their vehicles. A good number of lives would have been saved if there were safety kits in vehicles.”
