The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has appointed national deputy chairman, Aransiolpa Kudus, as acting chair in Lagos.
This followed ruling of the National Industrial Court, which nullified Lagos State’s appointment of a Caretaker Committee, known as Parks and Garages Administrators.
The state dissolved RTEAN, suspended its operations and took over the garages.
But RTEAN sued the government in October 2022, over alleged dissolution of the Executive Committee, and appointment of a caretaker body.

Justice Maureen Esowe held that the act of the state in suspending the union’s operations and setting up a caretaker committee was illegal and against Sections 4 (1), (2) & (3), and 5 (1) &(3), read with Item 34 of Exclusive Legislative List of 1999 Constitution, as amended.
In a statement in Abuja, RTEAN General Secretary, Yusuf Adeniyi, said parties, especially defendants, should comply with the judgment.
