Routine immunization is key towards ensuring a healthy society, Sokoto state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu has stressed.
He was speaking at the monthly meeting of the state Taskforce Committee on polio eradication and improvement in routine immunization coverage.
Aliyu underscored the importance of immunization in the current outbreak of meningitis in some local government areas of the state.
He commended the efforts of members of the committee towards ensuring a healthier state.
In a remark, State Commissioner for Health, Dr Balarabe Kakale Shuni noted that the current meningitis outbreak affects some states in the Federation including Sokoto.
He however said with the efforts of the state government towards addressing the situation, the number of meningitis cases had gradually reduced.
The health Commissioner disclosed that enough drugs were being provided for the treatment of patients.
