Rotary moves to tackle mental illness in Ogun

The Rotary Club of Abeokuta, Ogun State, has declared war on mental health disorder with a pledge to facilitate treatment and care for victims.

The club lamented the increasing cases of mental illness among Nigerians without adequate health care.

The 45th President of the club, Motunrayo Adeleye, declared this during her investiture in Abeokuta.

Adeleye, who is the immediate past Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, said the various challenges being faced by Nigerians had further worsened their mental health conditions.

She lamented that millions of Nigerians suffered from various degrees of mental illness or disorder without psychiatric healthcare. 

In her remarks, the Deputy Governor of the state, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, congratulated Adeleye and asked her to uphold the ideals of the club.
