Ronaldo ‘nears’ £173m Saudi contract

Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed a bumper £173million-a-year contract with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, which would make him the highest earner in sport, according to Daily Mail UK.

The 37-year-old had his Manchester United contract terminated earlier this month, following a tumultuous relationship with club chiefs.

The Portuguese star in an interview with Piers Morgan heavily criticised both Manchester United as a club and the manager Erik Ten Hag, saying the club had not grown since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013.

He added that he had no respect for Ten Hag cause the manager had no respect for him.

However, sources close to the star insist that no deal has been signed and that Ronaldo remains focused on the World Cup with his country, but reports in Spain today by Spanish newspaper outlet, Marca claim the figures have been agreed.

The five time Ballon d’Or winner had his contract with Manchester United terminated on mutual agreement on November 22 after the club thanked the Portuguese star for his contribution during the two spells which saw him score 145 goals in 346 appearances.
