Bayelsa United striker, Robert-Mizo Christian has revealed his determination to improve on his goal-scoring record in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Christian who is the leading goal scorer in the ongoing season in chat on X(formerly Twitter) said he is hoping to do better than he did last season where he ended as the second-highest goal scorer.

According to him, he hopes to score 30 goals this season compared to last season where he scored nine goals in the abridged season. This season, he has scored six goals in seven games.

SPONSOR AD

“Honestly, I just want to do better this season. I scored 9 goals and ended up as second second-highest goal scorer last season. I’m hoping to just do better for my team. Number of goals?. Maybe 30,” he said.

Speaking further, he advocated for more home-grown players to be invited into the national teams, especially the Super Eagles.

“I think looking into homegrown or local players should be normalised during these call-ups. Doing so will encourage the Nigeria Professional Premier League players to do better in their various teams,” he said.

He, however, revealed that his biggest challenge as a footballer is to attract a sponsor to aid his professional growth. Despite his goals, Bayelsa United is swimming in the relegation waters as they are 19th on the log table with just six points.
