Armed robbers, on Wednesday, broke into the Ikeja home of the late Moshood Kasimawo Abiola and subjected the family to torture and harassment and succeeded in escaping with cash and valuables.
It was learnt that the robbers broke into the house around 4 am on Wednesday through one of the rooms and allegedly carted away jewelry.

The Abiola family, also confirming the incident in a statement issued yesterday evening said the armed men invaded and ransacked the house in the early hours of yesterday.
The statement, signed by Tundun Abiola for the family, narrated that the hoodlums subjected the family members “to extreme emotional torture and harassment and stole cash and other valuable items and belongings.”
The family expressed consolation that no life was lost “in this unfortunate and frightening incident.”
The Lagos State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, who confirmed the incident on Wednesday to our correspondent, said that the Command suspected it was an inside job.
Elkana said that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu led detectives from the Command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad to the house and some suspects had been arrested in connection with the crime.
The PPRO said, “It is not an armed robbery but burglary.
“We are suspecting that it was masterminded by an insider.
“The burglars entered the house from the back and gained access into the wife’s bedroom.
“They stole some valuables.
“We have some suspects in custody and we have commenced an investigation.”
