- A five-man robbery gang engaged some policemen in a shoot-out on Liasu Road, Ikotun area of Lagos late on Friday night.
The robbers had earlier attacked some passersby along the road when the police team first sighted them
They dumped a polythene bag containing a gun and several ammunition by the corner of the street and fled the scene because of the police’s superior fire power.
The policemen later found the bag with a gun and ammunition in the densely populated poor Lagos suburb.

A victim said the robbers who rode on two motorcycles held a gun to her chest around 10.30pm and demanded her bag which contained her phone, some cash, ATM and identity cards among others.
She said one of the robbers proceeded to hit her on her shoulder with the gun before they forcefully snatched her bag.
A police source said while the robbery was in progress, some passersby raised the alarm which attracted the police patrol team to the scene.
The Lagos State Police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the recovery of the arms, said on sighting a patrol vehicle from Ikotun Division, some bad boys on Liasu Road dropped a polyethylene bag and took to their heels.
He said on checking to ascertain the content of the bag, a locally-made firearm and six live cartridges were discovered.
