Suspected armed robbers yesterday invaded Chibiri, a village close to Kuje Town in Kuje Area Council of the FCT and dispossessed their victims of valuables.

Some of the victims who spoke with our reporter said the incident happened in the early hours, around 01:00am; when the robbers, with sophisticated weapons, attacked residents of Chibiri New Extension.

A victim, Marcus Kolawole, said the robbers who were about 20, invaded his apartment and carted away laptops, handsets and other valuables.

Kolawole said the robbers proceeded to his neighbour’s apartment and forced the doors open where they also dispossessed the occupants of cash and valuables.

Another victim, Muyiwa Otunba, said the robbers used a sledge hammer to force the door of his house open and carted away phones, a television and money.

Otunba said some of the robbers were standing outside while the operation was going on, and added that “at the time they were carrying out the operation, it was raining heavily and neighbours could not hear what was happening.”

The Chairman of Chibiri New Extension Residents Association, Yusuf Ozi Usman, also said the robbers invaded his house within the estate and carted away valuables.

Usman said, “We have vigilantes, but it was raining when the robbers carried out the operation,” adding that one person who attempted to resist the robbers from gaining access into his apartment sustained injuries.

When contacted, the FCT police spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said the command was aware of the incident and that investigation was ongoing.
