The police in Kwara State have arraigned one Usman Alhaji Dango Bafashi before a magistrates’ court sitting in Ilorin for stealing a motorcycle and killing its owner, Jamiu Babatunde.
He was charged with criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide contrary to Sections 6(8) and 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms (special provision) Act, Cap R11, of the federal government and Section 221 of the Penal Code.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the suspect shot the victim dead while being chased by villagers and vigilantes in Patigi LGA after a botched attempt to steal a motorcycle earlier.
The FIR reads in part: “They robbed one Umaru Abubakar of his motorcycle and on getting to Koro village they attempted to rob another person of his motorcycle while the villagers and vigilantes gave them a hot chase. In the process, one Jamiu Babatunde was robbed of his motorcycle and then shot dead.”
The prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, urged the court to remand the suspect.
The Magistrate, Gbadeyan Kamson, remanded the suspect and adjourned the case to November 14.
