The forum, however, praised the council’s clean and green programme and investment in environment, saying Ilorin West is one of the cleanest local government areas in the state.
Coordinator of the Forum, Alhaji Isiaka Alata, stated this at a programme in honour of the council Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Sulu Oloje.
Alata also commended the council for the recent employment of 85 more sweepers who were posted to markets, health centres and other public buildings to ensure a clean environment. He promised that sweepers in the local government would be more dedicated to work in their respective duty posts in realization of the importance of a clean and green environment.
Responding, the Chairman promised to look into the sweepers’ demand. He called on the federal government to increase allocation to the local councils.
Alhaji Tajudeen Oloje, who spoke through his vice, Hajia Aminat Omodara, said some council chairmen have good intentions of developing their various council areas, but are being hindered by paucity of funds from the federation account.
