Road safety van rams into car conveying pregnant woman in Abuja

A Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Hilux Van, on Tuesday, collided with a car while officials were chasing an erring driver in the Utako District of Abuja in the FCT.

City & Crime learnt that the car was driven by a man, Bashir Bashir, who was conveying his pregnant wife, Olabisi, to her office.

At the scene, Bashir said, “We were coming from Lugbe to work. The road safety officials always stay at the junction. When I was approaching the junction, there was a vehicle in front of me. I discovered that they wanted to stop the car but the driver did not stop.

“The road safety officials in their van started chasing the vehicle. We were in between the FRSC van and the vehicle being chased. Unfortunately, it was my car they (road safety) hit from behind.

“My pregnant wife is seven months gone. She has been taken to the hospital.”
