President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday asked the Senate to approve N16.7bn as a refund to the Borno State Government through the issuance of promissory notes.
Buhari made the request in a letter read by Senate President Ahmad Lawan.
He said the refund was to pay for the construction of federal roads constructed by the Borno State Government.
He said the Federal Executive Council at its meeting of May 3 had approved the disbursement of N16, 772,486,002.19 based on an appeal by the state and his directive to the Ministry of Works and Housing “to ensure that sufficient funds are provided for the completion of the Damboa/Chibok Road based on the current cost of completion of the project.
