In the final played on Sunday at the Package B of Abuja National Stadium, Rivers State scored 94 runs in 19 overs against FCT’s 92 runs in 20 to emerge winners.
Rivers’ Odum Sylvia saw her team through by scoring a total of 12 runs and bowled 3 wickets.
Rivers State had earlier emerged top in their group after beating Kaduna State with a total of 71 runs in 10 overs for the loss of 5 wickets against Kaduna’s 70 runs in 15 overs for the loss of 7 wickets.
Getting to the final, FCT grouped alongside Anambra and Ogun States in Group B won their two games.
Anambra state won the third position after defeating Kaduna State in the third place game by 9 wickets.
Kaduna State had won the toss and elected to bat first and posted a total of 37 runs in 10 overs for the loss of 4 wickets.
However, when Anambra took over the batting crease in the second innings, they exceeded the required runs by scoring 39 in 5 overs.
Etim Blessing scored the highest runs of 12 hereby securing victory for her team.
The five teams; FCT, Ogun, Kaduna, Rivers and Anambra State had qualified for the final rounds after winning their respective regions. Sponsor of the Championship, John Abebe said the Championship will be an annual one where talents will be discovered and nurtured for the national teams.
