Riot in Osogbo as ‘policeman kills borehole operator’

There was riot at Otaefun area of Osogbo, Osun State Capital, on Friday, as a policeman on patrol allegedly shot and killed a borehole operator over a minor argument.

The victim, who was identified as Kabir Babai, worked as drilling operator at Shekeenah Zelter Global concept LTD in the state capital.

Another operator, Harrisu Adamu, was reportedly shot by the policeman but he did not die.

The angry mob in the area staged protest against the police over the killing

The angry protesters blocked the Osogbo/ Ikirun road around Otaefun/Kobo area, which caused heavy traffic in Osogbo.

The protesters attempted to attack the Divisional Police Headquarters at Ota-Efun but policemen repelled them.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Osun, Yemisi Opalola, said the incident would be investigated and appealed to residents not to resort to jungle justice.
