The RFU have revealed that four Premiership players tested positive for cocaine during the 2017-18 campaign.

The union published their anti-doping and illicit drugs programme report on Tuesday, and was also forced to defend their strategy after admitting they cannot guarantee that every player in the elite league is drug tested at least once a season.

The RFU carried out 332 tests as part of their illicit drugs programme, with four players testing positive for cocaine after becoming ‘dislocated’ from their clubs through injury or not being selected. All the cases also involved the use of alcohol.
