The Chairman, House Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation in the National Assembly, Hon. Ahmed Yarima, yesterday said it is unlikely that the federal government will revoke the licenses of the electricity distribution companies as long as they are ready to deliver on their mandates.
Hon. Yarima who led other members of the committee on an oversight function to some government privatised companies including the Jos Disco and the Zuma Steel West Africa Ltd also in Jos, had meetings with management of JED and the team from the Bureau for Public Enterprises.
Ahmed who was represented by Hon. Babatunde Gabriel Kolawole, after inspecting some of JED installations noted that, “They made it clear to us that they have been keeping to their side of the agreement and we are lacking as a government, so we will play our own role.
“The fact is that government has no business being in business, business should be left to the private sector to thrive and that is what is being done in other countries.”
