Revenue collector killed in Edo

Daily Trust gathered that the incident happened on Tuesday when a commercial motorcyclist had an argument with the revenue collector

A revenue collector simply identified as Osazuwa was reportedly stabbed to death by a motorcycle rider in Ogheghe community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

Witnesses said the cyclist, a Hausa man, in the heat of the argument stabbed the tax collector, who is an indigene of the area.

The incident led to a violent clash between youths of the community and some Hausa people resident in the community in which properties were destroyed.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Princewill Osaigbovo, who confirmed the incident said he was not aware of any death.

He said the commissioner of police had met with the community and normalcy had returned to the area.

Meanwhile, Edo State government had ordered  the reconstitution of the State Peace Committee in the state.

The governor gave the order during a meeting with members of Arewa community and members of Ogheghe community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government of the State.

He said the committee would include members of Arewa community, local governments and traditional institutions.

“The purpose of the committee is to give the Arewa leadership in the local governments the authority to register all members of the Arewa community to enable us to know those operating in each community across the local government.”
