Residents of Graceland, which is located behind the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology in Zaria, have decried the demolition of their homes by the Kaduna State Government through Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Agency (KASUPDA).
Some of the residents, mostly retirees, broke down when they told Daily Trust that the demolition which began Sunday night followed years of legal battle between them and the college which accused them of trespassing its lands.

They begged Kaduna State Government to come to their aid and stop the excesses of KASUPDA whom they accused of failure to follow due process.
Dr Ashiru Halilu, a resident of Sabon Gari in Zaria, who owns a house in the area, as well as Engineer Abdulsamad Abdullahi Musa, a resident, confirmed the demolition exercise.
However, the Management of Nigerian College of Aviation Technology in Zaria through its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Balarabe Mohammed, said the college was not responsible for the demolition but promised to issue a statement today (Tuesday).
Attempts to reach KASUPDA through its PRO Nuhu Garba were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls to his phone.
