Kano Pillars proved too big for FC IfeanyiUbah to handle as they piped the ‘Nnewi millionaires’ 1-0 in the NPFL Week 9 fixture played on Monday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium in Port-Harcourt.
The victory is Kano Pillars first away win of the season after they had picked away draws at Adamawa United in their opening match and Nasarawa United in week three.

Prolific striker, Auwalu Ali Malam, scored his first goal of the second in the 23rd minute to ensure the ‘masu gida’ boys return to the pyramid city with the maximum points.
With the hard earned victory, Kano Pillars have moved from sixth to fourth place on the table with 17 points.
Kano Pillars Head Coach, Ibrahim Musa, commended his players for the crucial away win.
“It was a hard fought victory. The league is highly competitive so you can imagine what it takes to win away from home.
“The boys kept to our game plan as we held on to the early goal to come out victorious.
“We are aiming at the league title so where we have found ourselves on the table after the victory in Nnewi is great motivation,” he said.
In the second match of the double header in Port-Harcourt, home boys, Rivers United inflicted more misery on Nasarawa United as they defeated the ‘Solid miners’ 2-0 to return to the second position.
Although Nasarawa United were hoping to arrest their recent free fall, they unfortunately went behind early in the match when Malachi Ohawume headed in the opener for the ‘Pride of Rivers’ in the 7th minute of the match.
The visitors fought hard for an equaliser but in the 73rd minute, all hope was lost as Nelson Esor benefitted from goalkeeper Danlami Umar’s howler to double the lead for Rivers United.
Nasarawa had their best chance in the 79th minute to pull a goal back as Silas Nwankwo was through on goal but with only the goalkeeper to beat, he fired over under pressure from Ifeanyi Anaemena.
With three consecutive losses, beginning from week seven, Nasarawa United are now 8th on the table from their previous number one position.
