The Editor in Chief of the Guardian Newspapers Limited, Debo Adesina said re-structuring Nigeria based on its existing regional diversity would not undermine its unity.
Adesina stated this in Abuja at the weekend at the investiture ceremony of the 9th president of the Club Twelve 88 (an Abuja based Yoruba group), Architect Niyi Akande.
He argued that the cries for a proper federation may sound worn, but it is the only way to genuine development in Nigeria.
He pointed out that; “laziness has over the years created the erroneous mindset that an acknowledgement of our diversity, which would lead to restructuring the country and adopting economic diversity models…would undermine the nation’s unity.”
Adesina said the subsisting architectural design of Nigeria is faulty and any economic structure built on it is incapable of engendering prosperity for the people.
