The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has congratulated the newly appointed Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Adamu Mohammed; imploring him to respect the rule of law aimed at ensuring equity and social justice.
President Muhammadu Buhari had appointed AIG Adamu as replacement for IGP Ibrahim Idris who attained the 60 years mandatory retirement age today.
NANS’ Senate President, Comrade Abdulmajeed O. Oyeniyi, in a statement on Tuesday stressed the need for the acting IGP to ensure equity and social justice at this critical moment when the general elections are fast approaching.
He however saluted the retired IGP Ibrahim Idris for his dedication and commitment to duty, saying his prompt response to distress calls will be greatly missed.
“We cannot forget in a hurry his impeccable qualities in tackling crime across the nation, such as arrest of the notorious kidnapper, Evans; redeployment of police officers to schools; restructuring of SARS, rescue of kidnapped Dapchi school girls in collaboration with other security agents among several other remarkable achievements,” he noted.
