Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries Limited has appealed to the Nigerian youths to resist drug abuse as it has damaging effects on their health.

The chief executive officer (CEO) of Emzor, Mrs Stella Okoli, made this call in Lagos recently.

She said, "As parents and especially a Mother, I am deeply saddened by the problem of drug abuse and its damaging effect on our children and youths. Even more painful is the fact that a genuine therapeutic product, made for the relief of a specific illness, has been turned into a substance of abuse."

Okoli said the over 30 years pharmaceutical manufacturing company will assist both the government and other relevant agencies to rehabilitate, treat and improve the infrastructure for treatment of drug addicts. She added that the company in partnership with other government parastatals are working tirelessly to recall the codeine cough syrups in the market.

She urged the youths to engage in entrepreneurship as a way of improving their lives.

"Emzor believes in developing our youths. Through the Chike Okoli P which was established in 2006 to promote healthy lifestyles and entrepreneurship, we have trained, influenced and touched the lives of millions of youths, many of whom have graduated from the foundation’s Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies and are now running their own businesses," she said.
