Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State says his estranged deputy, Agboola Ajayi, should resign if he has “honour”.
Akeredolu, who said this while fielding questions from State House reporters shortly after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari, said the All Progressives Congress (APC) had proven to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that “Ondo is not Edo State”.
Ajayi had left APC for PDP and later Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) to contest against Akeredolu in the October 10, 2020 governorship election.
The newly elected governor said the days of his current deputy are numbered as a new administration will soon be sworn in even if he (Ajayi) does not resign.
Akeredolu also said that if Ajayi is contrite, he is ready to receive him with open arms.
He said his declaration of some prominent Ondo indigenes as his enemies for life as a political statement, saying that having won the election, he has no need to keep enemies.
