Residents of Kubwa in Abuja have been trooping to available wells in the area to source water, after a seizure of the essential commodity there for almost a week.

Kubwa, which in the past enjoyed uninterrupted supply from the FCT Water Board, ran into crisis since last Friday.

There are few water boreholes and wells in the area as the result of water availability from the water board in the past, a situation that made people to depend on the few available ones when the water supply was caught off.

Children and women left their respected homes in early hours of Thursday to line up and wait for their turn at the available water source.

Vendors are exploiting the opportunity as the 10 jerrycan wheel truck now goes as high as N2000 in some areas of the satellite town.

A source from the FCT water board, linked the water interruption to an emergency maintenance work ongoing at Usuma Dam Water Treatment Plant, which serves as the FCT water supply source.

Residents have called on the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, to provide palliative like water trucks to the area, pending when the issue would be resolved.
