Residents raise alarm as vandals steal solar panels in Abuja

Vandals have removed some of the newly installed solar panels for street lights from Kado/Life Camp Roundabout to the Kubwa Expressway in the FCT.

City & Crime reports that the affected areas are notorious for robbery and accidents at night.

A resident of Life Camp, Chinedu Abutu, said, “These vandals mostly target panels worth millions of naira. If you check other places, you will also notice the same thing. It is quite unfortunate. Replacement of the installations is counterproductive and detrimental.”

Abdullah Idris, who stays in Kado, decried the development, saying that the vandals’ actions were alarming and depriving many people of their right to steady light on the highway.

He, therefore, urged the FCT Administration (FCTA) to work with security agencies in the protection of electrical installations in the territory.
