Concerned businessmen and residents of Damaturu metropolis in Yobe State had over the past week grumbled about the perpetual absence of mobile phone services of all the four major networks in the area.
The total service cut disconnected subscribers of MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9mobile for seven hours last week Saturday and for three hours the following Monday.

Abdulrahman Hassan, a POS operator in Damaturu, told our reporter “I attend to over 100 customers and earn not less than N10,000 on daily basis, but with the service cut I couldn’t make a single transaction from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.”
Modu Aligbe, a commercial driver said he was disturbed because he was unable to reach his family after putting through several calls.
A staff in one of the telecom companies said they lost hundreds of millions.
When contacted, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Yobe State Command confirmed the arrest of nine suspects who allegedly tempered with the telecom service in Damaturu.
