Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed in Erin-Osun and Ilobu towns in the wake of the communal clash between the two towns in the wake of a land dispute.

Two people have been killed since the clashes began last week and several wounded in gunfights.

A 76-year-old woman, Maria Adeyemi, who was hit by a bullet said she was in front of her house when she was shot in the leg.

Many houses were set ablaze while residents fled their homes leaving their belongings behind to avoid being killed.

One of the residents, Mukaila Babatunde said his credentials, clothes and all his belongings were burnt to ashes.

Also, many cars were burnt while shops, business premises and petrol stations were also razed to the ground.

Soldiers and policemen deployed to quench the crisis ensured full enforcement of the curfew imposed by the state government.

Some residents of Osogbo told Daily Trust that they have been recieving many people who fled Ilobu and Erin-Osun towns.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Wale Olokode on Monday urged the traditional rulers of both towns to end the clash or face the full wrath of the law.

At a meeting with the traditional rulers of the two town, the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Ashiru Olatoye and the Elerin of Erin-Osun, Oba Yusuff Omoloye Oyagbodun, Olokode pleaded with them to prevail on their subjects to end the clash.

Also, the state Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola at a peace meeting held at the Government House in Osogbo appealed to the traditional rulers to ensure peaceful army in their domains.

The communal clash between the two towns started on Saturday after a hot altercation between Oba Olatoye and Oyagbodun in a phone conversation.

The Olufon of Ifon, Oba Almoroof Adekunle Magbagbeola was also at the meeting, and at the end of the marathon peace meetings in Osogbo, the monarchs pledged to prevail on their people to eschew violence and embrace peace.
